In future the EuroWind GmbH is focussing on its biggest competences: the wind power generation and solar power generation forecasts for the european and world-wide market. The growing demand for premium forecasting products and the continuous development of our complex procedures in these fields is resulting in the optimized orientation of EuroWind. Based on the new bundling of resources our services in the fields wind resource & energy yield assessments for the time being will not be offered any more.

The 3rd Spanish Wind Power Congress takes place on 20th and 21th June 2017 in Madrid with international representatives of the wind energy industry. On 20th June Dr. Omar Herrera Sánchez from EuroWind will give a speech about the application of the CFD model WindStation for wind potential analyses.

Together with about 8.000 participants EuroWind took part in a demonstration on June 2nd in Berlin supporting a turnaround in energy policy towards renewable energies, called Energiewende in german.

The demonstration was scheduled and organised by the Wind Expert Advisory Board of the German Wind Energy Association (BWE) in response to the planned amendment of the German Renewable Energies Act (EEG) in 2016. The consistent implementation of the EnergieWENDE in Germany is demanded. The current drafts of the EEG 2016 mean drastic changes for the wind energy industry jeopardising our common goal of climate protection.

The Wind Expert Advisory Board of the German Wind Energy Association (BWE) has conducted an intercomparison study on wind energy yield assessments. 30 participants handed in their wind energy yield prognosis for a fictitious wind farm in Lower Saxony. It goes without saying that EuroWind as an active member of the Wind Expert Advisory Board and as a company accredited for wind energy yield assessments participated in the intercomparison study of the BWE.

We are delighted that our wind energy yield prognosis didn’t show significant deviations from the mean values and that we have a good position in the group of participants. The great result that we have achieved with our energy yield prognosis in the BWE study, confirms our trust in our work and our assessments.

We at EuroWind conduct long-term referencing of energy yield data with our specially developed technique, which has been accredited by the DAkkS. We use MERRA-reanalysis data, HiRLAM-mesoscale data, the corrected regional BDB index and most recently the ConWx-reanalysis data in high-resolution.

A weather-based monitoring system for overhead lines optimises its transmission capacity. EuroWind analysed overhead lines in two reference projects about adaptive monitoring systems in order to identify meteorologically and technically induced „hot-spots“. Our services include i.a. GIS analysis of the overhead line's height profile, the transfer of the wind-, temperature, and radiation data to the overhead line's layout and profile, and the detailed analysis of the maximum transmission capacity with the help of the Cigré model. We extended our methodical approach by analyses based on the geographic information system QGIS! Geographic information systems (GIS) offer new possibilities in finding answers to various fundamental issues in the energy industry. EuroWind has access to long-term data from weather models and synoptic weather stations as well as wind and solar radiation data from our in-house models with high temporal and spatial resolution. We will visualize and analyze these data in GIS according to your specific ideas and requirements using digital elevation models, land cover data, satellite data and topographic maps. Based on the success of our PV nowcast for Germany (see News from April 1st 2014) we decided to extend our product portfolio once more. We now offer a solar nowcast not only for Germany, but also for Belgium, France and the Czech Republic. That is still not enough for you? Same for us! Intra-day trading is gaining importance in the European energy exchanges. That means ever more up-to-date data is required. After having published a shortest-term prognosis for wind power generation in France ready for the E-World 2014, we are now marketing a counterpart for solar energy production in Germany. The EuroWind PV nowcast for Germany considers current satellite radiation data so as to further optimise the previously compiled day-ahead forecasts. Not only the forecasts but also the actual production values are significant for energy trading. The EEX electricity exchange in Leipzig provides information on current solar power production in Germany, albeit with a time lag and sometimes incomplete. That is too little for us. We therefore decided to develop this important product for our customers on our own initiative. The PV actual values of EuroWind involve a satellite-assisted calculation of the solar energy feed in Germany with 5-minute time delay. We can supply the entire data as usual via our prognosis portal spotrenewables.com or via FTP or SFTP server. A non-binding, 1-month data trial is free. So what are you waiting for?

This year too, EuroWind was again an exhibitor at the prestigious E-World trade fair in Essen. With a total of around 23,500 guests from over 70 countries visiting the trade fair, we enjoyed many interesting talks at our stand, allowing us to inform existing and potential customers about new features or our established product portfolio.

EuroWind is marketing a new product in time for this year's E-World trade fair in Essen. Our nowcast of the wind energy production for France is oriented to all traders who are also active in the intra-day trade and hence depend on shortest-term forecasts. During the calculation, we utilise diverse statistical methods and current feed values in order to compile optimised wind power forecasts for the next 6 hours. This results in a forecast of the wind energy generation in France updated hourly. By incorporating the currently measured output data, the prognosis quality is increased significantly in comparison to the standard intra-day forecast. Electricity traders can therefore act with more information in the spot market and make any corrective purchases that might be necessary.
